A Little Side Rant

Hi, I thought I was all done for the night. My dogs were getting ready for their walks and everything. I turned to Facebook before shutting down for a bit and I saw somebody had posted a picture that said “I’m only responsible for what I say not for what you understand” and it occurred to me that this was the antithesis of communication. Oh I can understand the theory, we can’t force someone to hear things in the way that we say them. If the goal was only to express ourselves than I can even agree with it to some extent. However, if we have the goal to communicate something that we think or feel to someone else than I find this statement to be something of a fail. If I see that you misunderstand something I say than it seems to me that I need to find another way of saying it. What do you think? Namaste –GAR

  1. I agree,I think sometimes people give up to easily when trying to get other people to understand where there coming from and more often then not people sometimes just don’t listen to what’s being said!!
People just don’t seem to be having enough time for conversations anymore !!

    1. and yet when it comes down to it, our relationships help to define our universe. First of all our relationship with ourselves the inner but also how we relate to everything and everyone else–when we close the doors of communication, we lose something. Thanks for commenting

  2. It seems that Facebook was an appropriate place for that comment since FB is so often about saying something and not about the conversation. It’s often used as narcissist media not social media which is sad in my opinion.

    1. True in that it seems symptomatic of people’s communication in general. Lately I have become fairly aware of how many people in my life really tolerate no disagreement or discussion with things they have either posted or said. It’s made me a bit more vigilant of any tendencies I might have in those areas myself…
