Quote of the Day – May 27 2012

“To see that your life is a story while you’re in the middle of living it may be a help to living it well.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin, Gifts

When it comes down to it we all live stories. Whenever things get confusing or depressing or nuts, it always helps me to stop and think, “Who’s writing this anyway?”.   Chances are if we’re not writing our life story consciously than our subconscious is writing it playing out the the aspects of ourselves most needed to clear whatever blockages we may have.

Doggerel and Water Meetings

Learning, Burning Churning, Churning Butter, Churning knowledge losing the curds in the whey you move so fine
the line is drawn, dawn, rising son with not a cloud in sight

Thinking synoptically, synoptical thoughts
making connections, networking, net working?
no then out in the sound

meditate, contemplate, see what rises to the surface
the cream? back to churning learning
stirring up consciousness”

Quote of the Day – May 26 2012

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
― Albert Camus

Bleak o’erhanging mood
Have to look up to see down
Glad I’m not there now

When I was younger, I’d go into the dark a few times a month. I’d mope around with an unhappiness so intense that people could feel if not see the dark cloud hanging over me. I was unhappy with my self, unhappy with my life and I wasn’t quite sure how to change it. These moods would never last very long. Eventually I would joke my way out of it as I can’t go very long without noticing something that strikes me as funny. If I strung enough of those together, my mood would inevitably improve.
As I got older and learned to watch my moods and my self from the perspective of the witness, these moods came far less often and were a lot shorter in duration. Part of me misses feeling that intense of an emotion however dark tho I did learn from it that I do have that capacity for feeling. A good thing to know.

Reworked Tarot Entry – Nine Of Wands

At Dawn they come
I hear the drums beating
as they plan their approach
I alone remain
to meet them
I cannot give way
Will this battle be the one I cannot win?
NO!
I will not surrender
My gods watch over me and so much has been lost
The drums echo louder as I kneel in prayer
Leaning on my staff for support
My company of nine
eight well used and on e freshly carved
tell of other times
that I came through
Drumming louder, drumming sronger
and voices heard
“The dr will see you now
you may go in”

Quote of the Day – May 25 2012

“Optimism is a strategy for making a better future. Because unless you believe that the future can be better, you are unlikely to step up and take responsibility for making it so.”
― Noam Chomsky

Making a better future, at least doing what we can to ensure it means that we have to surrender our powerlessness. It is so easy to say that we are at the mercy of the NWO, the powers that be, our pasts, our current economic status etc yet most of us ( I try to never say all because therein lies as big a trap as saying none) have the ability, have we but to claim it to not only make our futures better but to do things or say things that will help others to do the same.

Learning from Everyone…

“If we learn to open our hearts, anyone, including the people who drive us crazy, can be our teacher.”
― Pema Chödrön

Perhaps especially those who drive us crazy. Gratitude abounds to all my teachers with prayers that I can open up further to learn from all

Quote of the Day – May 24 2012

“I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.”
–Caine (Kung Fu)

“And still I will have told you next to nothing. For Shara sought more than freedom—she sought meaning. Mass was, above all, a spiritual event—its title pun paralleling its thematic ambiguity between the technological and the theological. Shara made the human confrontation with existence a transitive act, literally meeting God halfway. I do not mean to imply that her dance at any time addressed an exterior God, a discrete entity with or without white beard. Her dance addressed reality, gave successive expression to the Three Eternal Questions asked by every human being who ever lived.
Her dance observed her self, and asked, How have I come to be here?
Her dance observed the universe in which self existed, and asked, How did all this come to be here with me?
And at last, observing her self in relation to its universe, Why am I so alone?”
–Spider and Jeanne Robinson, Stardance

Upon reading the above question a friend of mine asked me: “Isn’t knowing the answers essentially the same as understanding the questions? It’s sort of a more obscure, mystical way of wording things, but how could you do one without the other?” I want to sit with this for a bit.

Quote of the Day – May 23 2012

“Ninety-nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable”
— R Buckminster Fuller

We are the ninety-nine percent? Ah wouldn’t that be an interesting essay. Seeing the 99% of us that we can’t touch rebelling against the 1% on the surface that seems to make all the decisions. Occupy our existence. YES.
Of course not even our psyches occur in a vacuum. Still how much of ourselves even surface to the point of awareness? Meditation elicits and integrates more for sure tho at any point we contain multitudes we’ll never meet, the would have been us’s and the could of been us’s .
Still what amazing raw material to recreate ourselves from… If there is a quality that we admire or that we crave we can know or at least surmise that it exists somewhere inside of us and evoke it. What awesome potential, knowing that each day we can become, or perhaps be becoming..

Daily Becoming
I choose qualities needed
Essence Awakened.
