Quote of the Day – June 4 2012

“The unread story is not a story; it is little black marks on wood pulp. The reader, reading it, makes it live: a live thing, a story.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin,

How much of our story remains unread, unshared and why? This quote brings me a step closer to where I’ve been going in this blog for awhile. Oh I meander aways but my intention is to get their never the less. I wish to share my story. Oh I guess I share it with every thing I write here. After all Doesn’t our philosophical views reflect our stories? I guess if that’s true than the quotes I use and my art also reflect who I am, who I’ve been and possibly clues as to how it all turns out.
Perhaps then we tell our story in everything we do or create. It could be our whole purpose of communication and art–to create, co-create and recreate our story.

Metaphysical Rambling – I Left My Meter Running (2010)

The spirit soars
The soul compells
but in the end
the ego tells
tells what?
Can I tell my left-hand from my right
and does my direction matter?
Teachers stand in all directions
offering offerings
light to show my chains
making me see
torturing me
setting me free?
Gnosis pizza on the menu
Eat a slice and release
the indwelling spirit
I guess we’re all gnostic pizza at that
but will we be delivered on time?
The left-hand knows
what the right is doing
but vice-versa
and which way lies the diamods?
God is shooting craps in the corner
for universal stakes
the dice are loaded
but to leave
you have to play as you go
Grab hold of the wisdom snake
he’ll pull you through
At each level leave a bit more
of your soul behind
It’s getting hot so jacket off
transcend that which you know…..
and know that you transcend

Quote of the Day – June 3 2012

“Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously.”
― Hunter S. Thompson

Perhaps the above quote should not have been chosen right before I started reading about the ‘zombie’ attack in Florida. Life continues to impress me with just how strange it can be. I mean too bizarre and ludicrous to take totally seriously and never ever what we were prepared for.  I have always felt that I could go into denial either of the strangeness around me or of life itself or develop a sense of humour. I choose laughter. It is what has kept me going at my worst and has enhanced my life immensely at its best. To me humour has always been a symptom of both spirituality and wisdom and have never been able to accept either without it.

Quote of the Day – June 2 2012

“I have learned silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind. I should not be ungrateful to these teachers.”
― Khalil Gibran

Amazing if I have learned these things then I have to ask myself what have I been teaching? Sanity? Wisdom? Patience?. Perhaps I need to keep asking myself this at any given time. What am I teaching by my words and actions. This gets driven home to me quite often when I notice my teenage son emulating behaviours of mine that I don’t even want to admit to. Bits of my shadow self that I still haven’t worked my way through.
Still gratitude of all of these things I find to be paramount. No matter how difficult my life may be, I feel grateful for the challenges that come my way even from those who have been less than kind, less than tolerant, and less than silent. Of course grateful for the good stuff too. Always that

Mythos- Revisited

This one was created about a year and a half ago, my attempt to do a triptych and explore or at least symbolize several things going on in my being. Ultimately, I believe that no matter what belief system we may follow, we all carry inside us a personal mythos that involves what each force in our life means to us. How we relate to our symbols at any given time can reveal quite a bit about our state of being.

Quote of the Day – June 1 2012

“He who is outside his door already has the hardest part of his journey behind him.”
— Dutch proverb

Like an arrow in flight
I travel home
to a place that’s waited so long
There will I find solace
There will I partake
in love’s embrace
I have what’s needed
as I travel
electrically
Days become hours
Minutes become seconds
as miles are covered
as bases are too
gods speed my travel
and clear my way
The lightning guides me
I go today
