Quote of the Day – August 21 2012

“If you let people break your spirit and detour you from your path, then you have not been true to yourself or those you’re here to touch, those who believe in you.”
― Allison DuBois

Can a spirit be broken? I believe  it can be bent pretty far, torn shredded but never broken, not really. At most people can make us believe it broken and in so believing we lies helpless until  we start healing and so reconnect to that which constantly destroys and recreates ourself. I believe this phoenix like being to be our true spirit. You can’t destroy something that is constantly in the throes of destruction and creation, just make it harder to see. Once faith is restored, we are reborn… Find the phoenix that lies within and you need never fear destruction again for something new within us is constantly being reborn.

Quote of the Day-August 20 2012

Well I think about all the other ways I could’ve played
All the other simple moves I could’ve made
All the other cards that I could’ve dealt
All the books I didn’t read upon my shelf
All the other ways I could’ve sung my songs
I’ve realized that none of it wen’t wrong
It was all play
How could it be any other way?

–Trevor Hall.

Losing myself in the vastness
Not even knowing it as that
All there is
So much more than the me
Or the billions of mes

Breeze on my face
Sand kissing my feet
More than kissing
Sound of surf
Unable to escape
But not needing to
I stare out at far shores
And travel within being

Quote of the Day. -August 19 2012

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see. ”
–Henry David Thoreau.

Do I see my son talking back and being cynical or do I see a young man somewhat insecure asserting his independence for the first time?
Do we see people trying to be better than they were or do we see them fall short?
How do we see ourselves? Do we see our failures, out successes or a combination of both?
Do we see the beauty inherent in even the most grotesque of people and events or do we only look at the ugliness?
What is it we want to see. Our choices make us who we are.

Quote of the Day -August 18 2012

“Tell your heart that your fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And hat no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity ”
–Paulo Coelho

The strange loops that webcam find ourselves caught up in fascinate me.We go out of our way to avoid discomfort and suffering and in doing so we suffer more than we ever could have thought. What is it that we fear so much?
When we dream our lives big, any setback we have will appear smaller by comparison. It is only when we fear failure and shrink our dreams that our perceived setbacks grow in size.
May we all become fearless dreamers!

Quote of the Day – August 17 2012

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars and see yourself running with them.”
–Marcus Aurelius

A night of un characteristic fun. Starlight and campfires and discovering just where my son gets his opinionated side from. Tho I like to think I consider all sides, There is quietude out here. Muted voices from other campsites and a constant quiet rumble from the far-off motorway being the only sounds. Beauty of tree and wood, good friends and loved ones and in the sky a thousand stars.

Quote of the Day – August 16 2012

“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it…”
― Wilferd Peterson

By nature I tend to enjoy solitude yet somehow in this online universe I find myself surrounded by so many amazing beings and I have been blessed with companionship. I like to think i have been living this quote because these the dreamers, the believers and the courageous are the ones who I find myself in the midst of daily. All my life I sought to find a place where I could live  what has become something of a motto to me “Shared joy is increased and shared pain lessened and between Facebook and WordPress I have found it and an unbelievably beautiful assortment of souls. Thanks to all those who dare to dream.

On a personal note, my blogging might be a bit more sporadic over the next five days or so as I am away camping in Washington State. I’ll try to post some pictures as well as any stray ideas or art that inspires me…

Walking Abstraction by G A Rosenberg

Lotus

“The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud — the obstacles of life and its suffering. … The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. … Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one. ”
― Goldie Hawn

Funny how it seems each petal takes its own kind of courage as well. The first petals take the most courage but are the easiest. It’s just that doing anything for the first time can be daunting. After that  we increase in motivation but it gets progressively harder. tho the more sun we let in the better

Sun Lotus by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – August 15 2012

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

Sometimes we can’t hear the music that others dance to. We see them go through the motions and wonder at the rhythm or lack thereof in their movements and become puzzled. So often the temptation is to diagnose, to remedy, to try to bring them to the point where they realize that they don’t hear the music that we can’t here. Would that we could listen with the heart. We may catch the strains of an ineffable tune with beauty that we have denied ourselves before. We may even wish to dance ourselves if only we could bring ourselves to break free of the fear of being misunderstood by those still denying themselves the song. Perhaps we continue to hear nothing but with open hearts we realize that that is not the loss of the dancer but ours. Love brings faith that the music is there whether we hear it or not.
