Quote of the Day – April 12 2012

“Don’t forget – no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell.”
― Charles de Lint

“It’s all a matter of paying attention, being awake in the present
moment, and not expecting a huge payoff. The magic in this world seems
to work in whispers and small kindnesses.”
― Charles de Lint

A pair of quotes tonight from one of my favourite writers,Charles de Lint. Both of them seem to reflect different things going on in my head tho which probably means that down the road a ways they connect.
We all have our stories and our perspectives. No one else has experienced the same life we have and so we each carry something of infinite value. If nothing else, a new exercise in compassion. By this I don’t necessarily mean that every one’s view on everything is as good as anyone else’s. These things are relative.
Everyone’s experience and insight does hold value, its to who, how much and relative to what that’s the rub.

I have always wanted to understand others. I want to understand the joy and pain and life that has made each person what they are and pushes them to become more. I want to understand and heal what stops them. I realize of course that this comes from a strong need to understand myself and overcome my own inertia but more than that. For understanding each person means being aware and seeing those small moments of magic that Mr. de Lint talks about in the second quote. Hmmm, easier to match them up then I thought.

Quote of the Day – March 22 2012

“What each must seek in his life never was on land or sea. It is something out of his own unique potentiality for experience, something that never has been and never could have been experienced by anyone else. ”
— Joseph Campbell

Back from an amazing holiday that enhanced my life in very many ways. I travelled with my partner and our son and yet it was evident from the beginning that each one of us was experiencing a ‘different’ holiday. I have accepted for a long time how different we find our worlds to be from each other (not just with my family but in each of us) We all enter into each day with different expectations, different hopes and different intentions and that colours every thing that we do. Who we are definitely colours what we see.
Yet knowing that enhances rather than diminishes harmony. I have seen so many people torn apart because they believe that their experience is identical to that of those around them. They become puzzled when they hear what the other person saw and heard. In many cases we feel threatened because if our experience is different does that mean the way we saw heard and felt it was wrong? If we go into things with the expectation that they will be unique for each of us, it gives us that much to share at the end of things.
Blessings,

Goddess Night by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – February 3 2012

‎”In your waking dreams when you are hushed and listening to your deepest self, your thoughts, like snowflakes, fall and flutter and garment all the sounds of your spaces with white silence”
— Kahlil Gibran, Garden of the Prophet

The process of going within; letting my thoughts fall away, watching them gradually growing silent as i watch myself watching eventually the thoughts slow down their clamouring and i watch and listen, echoes of the well, answers to questions and moments of deepest still silence…
lately even when awake my thoughts rush here and there, why i love sometimes just letting my consciousness stream, Proust like and go where they will merely typing their flow onto the screen.
The truth flows in between the 1s and 0s of the computers binary consciousness. That I can agree with for yes and no seem far too limiting as choices. Einstein stated that God does not play dice with the universe. Are we to believe that he plays tic-tac-toe? As I type this, somewhat concurrently I find myself having a conversation with a friend on FaceBook where past and future, memory and imagination are set at a strange juxtaposition to each other. It was just implied to me that the two are one and the same if time is a factor. To me, this gives me interesting insight into my art… Makes manifestation, a child of the two.
Can we manifest without imagination and experience meeting somewhere? If manifestation could occur, then would we be able to perceive it. The mind boggles which in its own way generates silence. Namaste, G
