Moebius Striped

“Take me with you. For laughs, for luck, for the unknown. Take me with you.”
― Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

We make a splendid band of travellers
Caught in our own explorations
and then comparing notes
talking about the strange places
that this one or that one had been to
and the bizarre things they’ve done
along the way
Still in all the voices in my head
I listen for the biggest gems
of self-discovery and renewal come from the least expected places..
I listen to the drumming, the strange rhythms
and I dance to the beat
I hear a new land calling
without, within, without, within
Mobius Striped
I journey once more…

Being to the Full

“I love making, I love doing. I love being to the full, I love everything which is not sitting and watching and copying and dead at heart.”
― John Fowles

Bring me questions I’ve never heard. Let me see sights I’ve never seen at least not with today’s eyes. Show me the you I’ve never seen before and be open to new sides of me. Let’s run naked in the snow and go to the zoo and pet zebras. Let’s have a candlelit picnic in a department store window until they kick us out… Let’s go to a crowded firehouse and yell “MOVIE” and run. Let’s make up new flavours of ice cream and remember the words to nonsense songs. Let’s celebrate the new even if it comes in old forms and the old that we find anew.

Exploring Your Space

“Each person, a gateway to another universe…we walk in and through as well as with each other both inviting and sharing in exploration and creation”
— Randall Wolfe

You invite me with your eyes and smile and I step through to the universe you inhabit. It is a bit unsettling how well I know it yet so strange at the same time. Colours and sensations that I take for granted seem to have acquired new hues.. THe streets we walk down have an unaccustomed rhythm tho I have been there many times. They run to your beat not mine… a bit slower and flavourful. I feel so close to you right now wrapped up in your reality as soon we will be wrapped in mine. I look forward to see what universe we shall build together….

The Wonder Remains….

“Philosophy begins in wonder. And, at the end, when philosophic thought has done its best, the wonder remains.”
— Alfred Whitehead

Philosophy begins when we look at ourselves and look at the universe and say something along the lines of “Wow, how did this all come to be? How did I come to be part of this?” “Who am I to ask these questions?” As long as we question and don’t become too attached to the answers we have at the moment being the correct one beyond all others, our sense of wonder remains. After all if the universe is indeed too big to understand all at once than any answer we find to explain it will be at best partial. Which means there will always be something new to discover, to explain further and deeper and to wonder and marvel at. Wonder comes when we find that there are places on our reality map that we have yet to explore. Wonder and courage in this sense go hand in hand. For it takes courage to admit that our current explanations are merely approximations and may in fact be mistaken. This quest for Truth may not be for the faint of heart but wow is it ever worthwhile.

Quote of the Day – February 1 2013

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

When’s the last new thing you’ve tried? When’s the last time you left your comfort zone and jumped for something new? When is the last time you dropped your identity and adopted a new one? What stopped you? This life amidst all the pain and all the junk can be one big playground and even the bad parts are better than no parts at all. We are a reflection of the all, the drop in the ocean that carries the ocean within it. It’s not a matter of courage, just a matter of actualizing. Go for it.
