Expressing Ourselves

” No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit. ”
-Ansel Adams

Create with me
a reality based on our dreams
A many faceted gem that exists
at the touch of our souls.
We’ll shape the pieces anew
and watch them form
I’ll manifest the you that you wish
as I become the me I envision
It doesn’t matter who we are
as long as we are true
to our self to our dreams
and to the expression of our wills.

Unique

“Every man is more than just himself; he also represents the unique, the very special and always significant and remarkable point at which the world’s phenomena intersect, only once in this way, and never again. That is why every man’s story is important, eternal, sacred; that is why every man, as long as he lives and fulfills the will of nature, is wondrous, and worthy of consideration. In each individual the spirit has become flesh, in each man the creation suffers, within each one a redeemer is nailed to the cross.”
― Hermann Hesse

Aleister Crowley in the Book of the Law said it. “Every man and every woman is a star.” Among other things this means to me that we are each unique and capable of expressing something that no one else can express. Oh our energy may incarnate in other times and other places but in this time, in this place with this energy we are unique. What is it that we are meant to express? Most of us spend our lives working at discovering this. Eventually we catch on to the fact that whether or not we do it consciously, whether or not we do it well, we are always expressing our uniqueness. Oh it is easy especially in this 21st century here-now to pretend to be someone or something other but ultimately we become ourselves. Our masks slip away. I don’t know that I would have it any other way.

Quote of the Day – November 5 2012

“Artists are most themselves when they are out of their minds, transcending the ego skirmishes of conceptual thought, and intuitively relinquishing control to the greater Creator”
–Alex Grey, The Inner Artist

Letting go, releasing all my bullshit and giving in…letting it flow.. yes…so often I find myself trying to drive and navigate when it doesn’t matter where i go as long as the expression is true…so much needs to come out still..buried passions and shadow stuff that even as I express I tuck away ever playing a game of peak a boo with my own awareness. How lame is that? or if not lame, tame, we tame ourselves, make of our inner spirits the domesticated pets of our own ego and why? to maintain an inner core of what we tell ourselves is sanity when what we really need is madness…can’t we trust ourselves to come down again, trust the guidance of our spirits and that greater Creator? Why can’t we just let go and let God, the inner God that we all are?

Quote of the Day – April 21 2012 (Part 2)

“In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”
–Mahatma Gandhi

Maybe I’ve been going at this all wrong. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been working up towards expressing some thoughts on this blog that are difficult. I’ve been reaching for words only to feel my mind pull back that it is not time yet, reaching and finding that my sentences lacked clarity and things that I could articulate in my head moments before were now twisting and bending on their way to the screen. Perhaps it hasn’t been time for me to express them yet, perhaps I need to know my heart before it can find its way to words. I’m not sure but reading Gandhi’s words, I have more confidence that if my heart is there then the words will come
