Lotus

“The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud — the obstacles of life and its suffering. … The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. … Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one. ”
― Goldie Hawn

Funny how it seems each petal takes its own kind of courage as well. The first petals take the most courage but are the easiest. It’s just that doing anything for the first time can be daunting. After that  we increase in motivation but it gets progressively harder. tho the more sun we let in the better

Sun Lotus by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – July 29 2012

“The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and eternal peace is obtained, as one’s light merges into the Light.”
Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Quiet mood tonight so I may throw another quote in. Amazing how sometimes the heart can feel so open, exposed and shining forth in every step. Other times it feels more protective, only sending out the occasional radar like ping on occasion to see who else may be listening. Would love to be open all the time tho I suspect its tidal with a natural ebb and flow.

“Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.”

–Khalil Gibran

Beauty, noticing rain beading up on my windowsill, an idea being born, an infant’s smile; meditation, someone who has found some inner truth, tears. the sky at sunset or at sunrise, snow, friends making up after an argument, some arguments themselves, going within, doing something well for the first time, a new idea, the human form, most animals, imperfection, the universe, diversity, colours in combination, your smile, your eyes, any eyes, realize, flowers, the smell of cinnamon, art, writing, making love, holding hands, touching, giving or receiving a massage, hope, appreciation, understanding and the fact that this list can continue infinitely.
