Quote of the Day – June 5 2012

“Your memory is a monster; you forget – it doesn’t. It simply files things away. It keeps things for you, or hides things from you – and summons them to your recall with will of its own. You think you have a memory; but it has you!”
― John Irving

“What do you remember?”
“I remember walking down the hill helping Sadie with her crutch. Several of us were on a hike. It was a beautiful day. I had begun questioning what I was doing there at the farm and in California with the group.”
Once I started it seemed I couldn’t stop. After all this was one of my best memories.
“All of a sudden I felt covered in sunshine. I could feel myself, Sadie, all the others. Not only feel them from the outside but from the inside. I felt totally connected with my surroundings and with my life, part of everything. I could have died at that moment and it would have been perfect. It was also perfect that I continued. In a way I think every moment I’ve spent since has been to try to get that back.”
“And have you…”
“Once or twice yes.”, I smiled.
Blessings, G
