This is a New Year

Neil Gaiman’s New Year Message for 2015:
“”Be kind to yourself in the year ahead.

Remember to forgive yourself, and to forgive others. It’s too easy to be outraged these days, so much harder to change things, to reach out, to understand.

Try to make your time matter: minutes and hours and days and weeks can blow away like dead leaves, with nothing to show but time you spent not quite ever doing things, or time you spent waiting to begin.

Meet new people and talk to them. Make new things and show them to people who might enjoy them.

Hug too much. Smile too much. And, when you can, love.”
–Neil Gaiman

It’s here. Well, for most of the world as of this typing anyway. Another chance, another moment, a brand spanking New Year. In it I will try to accomplish a bit more, be a bit happier and a bit kinder. I will learn that much more from mistakes I will make and at the end of it perhaps understand a bit more. I wish you all the same.
Blessings, G

The Present Begins Now

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Leaving the past in the past each day has been a tough but worthwhile lesson to learn. How easy it seems to let past failures even minor ones build up and bring us down. Realistically we can’t change the past. As I have said many times each moment is the gateway to possibility and despite anything we’ve done up to now, we can only get better. Why does it seem so difficult to jump through this gateway? Is yesterday a quicksand mire holding us to it? Only if we let it, only if we struggle to hold on. No matter how I’ve been in the past. No matter what my weaknesses have been, in this moment I can be the person I wish to be. String enough of these triumphant expressive present moments together and we may actually find that we’ve built beings to be proud of.
Blessings, G

Quote of the Day – October 28 2011

“No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.

–Helen Keller

So ends the Mayan calendar and so ends one of the most challenging months of my life. Yet as Spider Robinson said at the beginning of one of his stories, “The ending is the beginning of something always”. I greet this new beginning with gratitude and awe. After all each moment can be seen as the beginning of a new age. May this one bring new shifts in consciousness. May it bring new experiences and new potentials to love deeper, more often and better. Also, may there be new challenges to help us grow and evolve still further. I feel so blessed in my life and wish the same for all of you. Namaste
