The Gift of Pain

“Pleasure blocks, but pain clears the way of inspiration. Tagore says: ‘When the string of the violin was being tuned it felt the pain of being stretched, but once it was tuned then it knew why it was stretched’. So it is with the human soul. While the soul goes through pain, torture and trouble it thinks that it would have been much better if it had gone through life without it. But once it reaches the culmination of it then, when it looks back, it begins to realize why all this was meant: it was only meant to tune the soul to a certain pitch.”
~Hazrat Inayat Khan

I felt the pain of loneliness
until I realized the gift of my own company
and learned connection to those I met along the way.
I felt the pain of hunger
until I knew how good food could taste.
I felt the pain of jealousy
until I realized my own worth

Everything that has hurt me
has brought me greater strength.
Every tear I shed
watered the ground I walked on
and nurtured life
Everything that laid me low
ultimately raised me up in truer ways
Every time my heart was sick
healing found its course.

Along the Path

“Face your life, its pain, its pleasure, leave no path untaken.”
― Neil Gaiman

For each of us there is but one path. On the physical, it begins when we draw breath and continues to when we draw our last one. Oh we may believe we’ve leaped from path to path, perhaps as we’ve made radical jumps either in our belief systems or our lives but that is illusory. No matter what path we follow, it is merely one who’s trail we parallel for however long we do. The best part of that is that it means we can never lose our way. Indeed with each step taken we blaze it. At times our paths take us to some pretty dark places but then for most, the light shines eventually. Others learn to appreciate the darkness for what it is.. Let’s all follow our way with spirit, humour, honour , gratitude and style and remember we can always change direction but never truly leave our path just veer off in new directions.
Blessings, G

Tarot Post – Six of Cups

Six of Cups (Pleasure / Happiness)

G`Six of Cups (Revised by G A Rosenberg

A beautiful moment

Memories that colour all

the future brightens

Natural Pleasures

Hold my hand and
Let me taste of your willingness
as we eagerly  explore inner and outer beings
The music starts
We take the first steps moving in rhythm to a dance
older than our souls,
a dance not performed with limbs
or tongue or organs but with our very beings,
Masculine and Feminine energies
combining within ourselves and each other
a love letter written from eternity
to that which always was.
– G A Rosenberg

The light reflects on the water
as our bodies reflect on each other
a coming together of elements
yearning for something new to come of it…
We may have met this way before
on this beach or another
in another time or existence
but every moment is NOW
and every beach this one
Fall into my body
as my spirit touches yours…..

Cups deal with our emotional nature including love, both that as in a relationship between two (and rarely more) people and that of friends and companions.Sixes represent balance and harmony. Mix balance and harmony with love and you end up with one of those magic moments. You know, the kind that you want to remember and take out and replay in your mind because you know it will help keep you going through the rough times. Love is and you are and the universe is right and good and nothing can take these moments away. Memories of them can heal you during the rough times. Knowing that they are possible can keep us going until the next one.

Astrological Correspondence – Sun in Scorpio – This energy involves powerful sensual feeling and transcendence, One of its symbols is the phoenix rising from its own ashes. The energy is passionate, sexual and consuming. Few things are as memorable as making passionate love with someone who has entered your heart. The Sun in Scorpio energy involves depth of experience and depth of learning and knowledge.

The Trigram of the Sun is over that of the Earth. It means both contemplative and being seen . The image is of a Vast Tower on a Mountain with a view of the countryside around It. From the Tower the ruler can be aware of both Heaven above and the people below and set an example for the people.
The time period that this hexagram is linked to is September-October where the dark is on the rise once more and the light subsides…
A couple of other images associated with this hexagram
The time in a ceremony in between when the ablution, ritual cleaning has been done, yet before the sacrifice has been made….(in a sexual context, the sexual act before climax (the rising and uniting of energies))
When the wind blows across the earth, the grass and trees etc, must give way before it…and it blows everywhere
When the owner or ruler pays a visit, everything is set in order to make the best impression possible.

When the Six of Cups turns up in a reading, it usually signifies an unusually happy time. The happiness of this period usually stems from a feeling of loving and being loved. This may have to do with past memories being rekindled tho it can also be a time for making new lasting memories depending on where the card falls in the reading and the other cards involved. This is a time that will be remembered for its feeling of peace and balance no matter how long it may last.

When the Six of Cups is reversed in a reading, it is possible that for various possible reasons, tho it is a happy period in our lives, we are unable to see it. It can refer to someone who is so focused on the future, that they forget to enjoy the present moment. The reversed Six of Cups may also refer to unpleasant associations from the past

Quote of the Day December 12 2012

“The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want most for what you want right now”
― Zig Ziglar

The quick fix.  We all know it. I can’t meditate my show is on. I can’t put money into my savings account the new iPhone5 came out. I want it all and I want it now. Discipline is for those other people. I’ve fallen into that trap so many times. It seems that it is part of our nature to go for the pleasure that something of the moment brings rather than the joy that comes from staying the path and building our dream. In the long view of course joy beats pleasure hands down and perhaps there can be found a balance between the two.

Six of Cups by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – November 16 2011

“Call it… joy. The thing like pleasure that you feel when you’ve done a good thing or passed up a real tempting chance to do a bad thing. Or when the unfolding of the universe just seems especially apt. It’s nowhere near as flashy and intense as pleasure can be. Believe me! But it’s got something going for it. Something that can make you do without pleasure, or even accept a lot of pain, to get it.”

–Spider Robinson

Thinking about all the times I went for the quick fixes of pleasure and / or comfort only because I believed that I didn’t deserve joy. Little did I know that joy was my earned birthright. You earn it by opening yourself up to feeling it.

Joy doesn’t mean you don’t see the world and its troubles, Joy does give you the awareness to know that you can handle them and that ultimately you CAN do what needs to be done..

Namaste
