Runic Lore Ansuz

Ansuz by GARAnsuz by GAR

The words came first silently
as if vibrated from within
Gradually though they increased in volume
“Listen to the flow of your will
and live to your purest instinct”
Looking around I saw nothing
Not quite true
I saw two birds flying overhead
Crows I thought or perhaps ravens

No, not flying in this dreamlike haze
But perched on the shoulders of a man
He was grey-bearded with a
blindly-twinkling eye
“Who?” I stammered
“Am I?” asked the man with a laugh
“Better to ask that of yourself
I am merely a traveller
while you have lost your way.

One bird cawed and I grew lost
In undistinguished memories
of life spent living the
despairing dreams of others
rather than discovering my own.
The other raven sounded
And I saw a road ahead
A difficult path where
I lost all that mattered little
Yet found my deepest self

The caw sounded again
And then stopped
The man and birds were gone
Did I awake with newfound clarity
with new purpose and meaning
or was it all some foolish fantasy
The answer came
with the falling of one black feather
and the release of inner chains.

Through Imagery Into Shadowed Places (March 2018)

“Our will operates in spite of our indulgence. For example, your will is already opening your gap, little by little.” “What gap are you talking about?” “There is a gap in us; like the soft spot on the head of a child which closes with age, this gap opens as one develops one’s will.”
― Carlos Castaneda

Discomfort yourself,
avoid the sunny places that you know
I offer no safe wonderland
nor is that my intent
I want to ping your shadowed selves
and awaken the seed of potential
that lives within you
if only momentarily
something that you can nurture
into a dark mirror
whose image will help you grow.

Intellectual despair results in neither weakness nor dreams, but in violence. Thus abandoning certain investigations is out of the question. It is only a matter of knowing how to give vent to one’s rage; whether one only wants to wander like madmen around prisons, or whether one wants to overturn them.
— Georges Bataille
Raging at stasis
wanting to rip down structures
and watch them burn
in chaotic beauty
tear down this fleshy existence
on the return to pure spirit
Liberation to a better world
on the decaying bones of the old

A Night’s Dream

“For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream”
.- Vincent Van Gogh

The Night sky brings dreams and hunting
We run the forest as wolves
bringing down our prey
and eating in the moonlight
We howl our victory
and make love until dawn’s arrival

Transform Daily

“Everything in your life is there as a vehicle for your transformation.
Use it!”
— Ram Dass

Travelling this road of becoming
accompanied by the spirits of change
No constants, no restraints
except that we cannot remain in place
Let the spirits guide the way
the shadows show the wyrd
and the spiders weave each strand in place
We break all conventions
as we shift and shine
brilliant and serpentine
evolving, becoming anew
— G A Rosenberg
