Saying Farewell to 2014

“Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.”
— Hermann Hesse

The hours are closing in on another calendar year. It’s been a year of art and growth and travel. I have had lots of time to reflect on relationships and how I relate to people and while much of it has been an awakening, it has been somewhat painful as well. I finished one major art project (The editing on the Tarot book is almost done, honest) and begun another one. I got to see Europe and I got to see the city I live in from the perspective of a tourist and found it all beautiful.
The next year will bring more of the same. I have some ideas of what I want to do career wise and marketing wise and my intent is to see it out. I wish to study more, meditate more, love more and spend more time in that still sanctuary inside of myself. May 2015 be a joyful, enlightening, enlivening, healthy and well-lived year for us all.
Blessings, G

Inspired by Everything

“Ideas come from everything”
― Alfred Hitchcock

What inspires you? Can you surrender to your imagination and grasp at the fireflies of ideas that blink in and out of consciousness? Can you listen to the voice of deity and become enflamed with new ideas? Can you climb a mountain and walk in the hills, carry a question and hear the answers that come? Can you still the wild fury of your thoughts and be still to the flame that lies within? Can you see shapes within flowers or hear the music in the laughter of old women talking?
Inspiration has come to me through all of these things. It would come more often if only I could learn to let go and be still more, to listen with my heart to the stillness, beauty and pain in the world. Every day I come closer…

Meditating Once Again…

“I said to my soul, be still and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith, but the faith and the love are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.”
― T.S. Eliot

Water dripping…then silence
an itch…then silence
a bad play on words about trees in the forest…inner laughter
then silence
a rumble in my stomach leads to thoughts of dinner
silence again
from the silence..
a word…
a sound like a drum
echoing soundlessly
my word for the moment
the word bounds then silent
Peace

Messages Sent and Received

“Our own life has to be our message.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh

If I stay still and listen
aware of your presence
your words and your being
than I can receive the message of your life.
With each breath and each choice we reveal ourselves
each moment becomes the midnight
where our masks come undone
yet even our masks show the face underneath
after all are they not how we want the world to perceive us?
That says a great deal
Yet how do I choose
the message of my life?
How can I become a clear channel?
Does my life say what I wish it to
or am I just messaging myself?
