Well in this case there’s a couple of things going on
a) The card is serving as my initial study for the illustration of The Devil Trump
b) So many symbols started out as one thing, and became another post third century christianity where everything that was pagan became at once to be considered inherently evil and twisted to suit the purposes of the church. By using symbols both ‘sacred’ and ‘profane’ I attempted to show the relative values of both…This picture (These pictures, a more innocuous version than these can be found on Facebook, was perhaps done a bit more self-consciously than most.
