Blind Rhyme That’s Somewhat Reassuring

“The best advice I’ve ever received: ‘no one else knows what they are doing either.’
— Charles Bukowski

Pretending to know
what its about
Backing it up
knowing no doubt
Fearing that I’m making it up
Fearing that it’s breaking all up
I’ve done my studies
I’ve passed my tests
wanted to feel
I’m not like the rest
Yet finally the cracks begin to show
My energy drained, I’m losing the flow
Surrender to randomness
Feeling quite ravenous
for knowledge I’m lacking
my brain I am racking
yet still nothing shows
This really blows
yet with my feet on the ground
I look around
and see everyone’s with me
confused as can be
and yet they pretend
what they do they intend
they make it up too
its how they get through
we’re all bozos on this bus

Connected Quotes — Light, Dark and Hope

“I want something else. I’m not even sure what to call it anymore except I know it feels roomy and it’s drenched in sunlight and it’s weightless and I know it’s not cheap. Probably not even real.”
— Mark Z. Danielweski

“To find out what is truly individual in ourselves, profound reflection is needed; and suddenly we realize how uncommonly difficult the discovery of individuality is.”
— C.G. Jung

“While looking for the light, you may suddenly be devoured by the darkness and find the true light.”
— Jack Kerouac

Most of us claim to want sunny days where we feel challenged, joyful and fulfilled. Yet at the same time we spend a good deal of our lives feeling miserable and wanting something different. We long for past happier days if we remember them (and the mind oft colours the past in much brighter colours than we perceived while living them) or for the future. We fail to see that the good times sustain us through the rough ones and the rough ones give us the knowledge and understanding we need to perceive the joyful times. We get stuck in between the onion skin layers of reality never realizing that with each step we come closer and closer to our full realization. We won’t get there by walking in sunlight but by exploring our shadowed existence. The more we deal with shadow, the more we clean our lenses to let in the light and vice versa. We can be miserable about it or we can accept it and move through it, the choice is ours.

Iceberg Consciousness — Below the surface

“Why do people have confidence in their little conscious world, and such fear of the much deeper and larger one below consciousness?”
— Anaïs Nin

I once looked for mirrors. Shallow reflections of the surface part of me that might show me who I am. Nowadays I look for bodies of water that I may sit and feel myself delve below the surface. I have grown tired of iceberg consciousness. I wish to know the ninety percent that lies hidden beneath. Let me sink deep and explore. There are new countries waiting to be seen.

Hard Times are for Knowing Who We Are

“The most valuable moments and experiences that life has to offer are found only along its most treacherous paths.”
— Augusten Burroughs

I am grateful
for the hard times
the roads with naught but bends
the three in the morning loneliness
where it seemed I had no friends
for those are the moments
when I took stock
and learned to trust myself
The universe looking out for me
the future distant shelf
and time in which I could
discover who I was
each lesson being hard won
learning my own laws
Easy times are not the times
to analyze or reflect
They are meant to enjoy
treasure and deflect
the memories of pain
of terror and of shame
the times in which we grow most
the times in which we almost
come to understand it all

A Pass Through Mountains

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.”
― Barry Finlay

Mountains know and Trees believe
Mountains have certainty and trees ambition
Both are of earth but where trees have air and water,
Mountains have fire
Mountains stand tall but resist change
yet fall prey to erosion
Trees bend with the wind yet are
much more vulnerable
The River is the carefree agent of change
It cares not for knowledge, belief or ambition
Its only interest is in the stories it collects
along his carefree path

Just back from a trip to the mountains. Tomorrow will be a heavy blogging day. Much to think about and much to meditate on. For now, sleep.

Storm Interlude

“When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
― Haruki Murakami

Driving through the mountains
comining into Hope,B.C.
The rain comes down in torrents
and visibility is way down.
we decide to stop and grab a motel
rather then get caught in the mountains.
Many had the same idea.
There is no lodging in Hope
so we backtrack
Miles to go before we sleep
and many more miles added tomorrow.
Still the spirit of adventure
is with us as we hydroplane.
Tomorrow we will pass hope
and complete our journey.
Tonight we rest.
Blessings,G
