Cut-Up Miscellaneous Duality

“I had always been impressed by the fact that there are a surprising number of individuals who never use their minds if they can avoid it, and an equal number who do use their minds, but in an amazingly stupid way. I was also surprised to find many intelligent and wide-awake people who lived (as far as one could make out) as if they had never learned to use their sense organs: They did not see the things before their eyes, hear the words sounding in their ears, or notice the things they touched or tasted. Some lived without being aware of the state of their own bodies.”
— Carl Jung

no evil,no good and no gray, just vectors of existence
the snake weaving its way through…
showing that there is always more than the reality we know
(shadow abyss… apple, strange fruit as we all hang)
there is power in each surge…every touch of the abyss shakes the bubble reality

“Have you ever found, when discovering a new writer who blows you away, a certain kind of mourning when you find they have passed? wishing that their insights continued tho you were little more than aware of them by name when they were alive?”

I am the ghost in the machine. The scent of honeyed seduction curling through my being

This is the house of the moon and the god forms are treated more eternal. Our job would be relatively simple, This is one of the rewards of playing around with symmetry. The role of the animal within is introduced alongside what are called “blocks to becoming” A becoming animal always involves
their thought. All we had to do was put everyday language into equation form and understand that the virgin whore is not simply a blend of the two poles.

Are we all Survival artists, surviving through anything life throws at us until we die or are we Non-Survival artists, each of us through our lives building towards our masterpiece of the life ending?

Connected Quotes — Light, Dark and Hope

“I want something else. I’m not even sure what to call it anymore except I know it feels roomy and it’s drenched in sunlight and it’s weightless and I know it’s not cheap. Probably not even real.”
— Mark Z. Danielweski

“To find out what is truly individual in ourselves, profound reflection is needed; and suddenly we realize how uncommonly difficult the discovery of individuality is.”
— C.G. Jung

“While looking for the light, you may suddenly be devoured by the darkness and find the true light.”
— Jack Kerouac

Most of us claim to want sunny days where we feel challenged, joyful and fulfilled. Yet at the same time we spend a good deal of our lives feeling miserable and wanting something different. We long for past happier days if we remember them (and the mind oft colours the past in much brighter colours than we perceived while living them) or for the future. We fail to see that the good times sustain us through the rough ones and the rough ones give us the knowledge and understanding we need to perceive the joyful times. We get stuck in between the onion skin layers of reality never realizing that with each step we come closer and closer to our full realization. We won’t get there by walking in sunlight but by exploring our shadowed existence. The more we deal with shadow, the more we clean our lenses to let in the light and vice versa. We can be miserable about it or we can accept it and move through it, the choice is ours.

I’m a Construct of all the Mistaken Truths of My Past

“Knowledge rests not upon truth alone, but upon error also.”
— Carl Gustav Jung

My cup of truth overflows
My certainty knows no bounds
Nothing enters no one leaves
when I start to expound
There may be fools who differ
well let them they’re wrong
What I have to offer
is not a madman’s song

Could it be
I’ve been mistaken?
Has my worldview
been forsaken?
A perceptual error
A faulty premise
shakes my foundations
Have I been remiss?

I order my thoughts
I rebuild stronger
I accept that this truth
won’t last any longer
than past misconceptions
Ah well it’s true
Older conclusions must
give way to the new.

Ideals Forsaken

“Ideals are mortal, so one should prepare oneself for their end: at the same time it probably costs you your neck. For do you not see that it was you who gave meaning, value, and effective force to your ideal? If you have become a sacrifice to the ideal, then the ideal cracks open, plays carnival with you, and goes to Hell on Ash Wednesday. The ideal is also a tool that once can put aside anytime, a torch on dark paths. But whoever runs around with a torch by day is a fool.”
— Carl Jung

I served a harsh master, the freedom to explore eternity without getting caught in the moment. I would move from instant to instant with time and space as my bitch. No idea would hold me long nor anyone’s heart a chain in my hand. I revelled in the understanding that the next adventure was always around the corner and I would embark as soon as the present one soured. The Fates laughed and started putting mousetraps and flypaper hoping to keep me in the moment yet I would fly free. Yet some traps cannot be escaped and soon even I found a life desirable. So my Master was forsaken and I stand here with those I love.

Shaping My Life

“I must shape my life out of myself, out of what my own inner being tells me or what nature brings to me.”
– Carl Jung

My land is what my eyes see
Not ownership but kinship
with all that surrounds me.
I move through the world
and so my life is formed.

My thoughts create my kingdom
with constant new areas to explore
and new insights to explain
I fly through imagination
and so my spirit grows

My understanding creates reality
I reach out to invent myself anew
and find myself reborn.
I choose that which will benefit
and so my world expands.

Rambling on the Spiral Path

“The Way to the goal seems chaotic and interminable at first.
Only gradually do the signs increase that it is leading anywhere. The Way is not straight but appears to go round in circles. More accurate, knowledge has proved it to go in spirals.”

– C.G. Jung

Striving but not reaching
universal inertia slowing me down
it seems like I get so far
and find myself plucked back further
as another seemingly wrong direction
has ended with a circular trip
back to the crossroads.
It would be so easy to give in to frustration.
Yet perhaps I know a bit more each time I return
It might feel like I’m going in circles but
actually it is a spiral
Understanding has been gained from the journey
and I have to admit that even
the wrong turns have been kind of fun.
OK then its the spiral game
and its time to go around again.

Letting the Feelings Flow Through

“Nature is playful and terrible. Some see the playful side and dally with it and let it sparkle. Others see the horror and cover their heads and are more dead than alive. The way does not lead between both, but embraces both. It is both cheerful play and cold horror.”
— Carl Jung

Resist not your feelings
Your nature is wild and strong
The times that you are raging
you’re only withstanding the storm
Don’t hide your head neath the covers
feel them with all of your might
the storm that’s intense will pass by you
leaving behind peaceful night

Emotions are just like our weather
clear skies and cloudy mixed in
No use whining or complaining
by the time we’re done, a change has come in.

I once was an uptight bastard
bottling up all my rage
I felt like some wild creature
was trapped in my steel-headed cage
I finally got bored with my anger
my sorrow and feeling alone
I now let the feelings flow through me
not a one am I required to own.
— G A Rosenberg

A bit of doggerel on an evening where I have been awake too many hours with too little sleep. Tho feeling it a bit as a song. Jung’s quote talks about coexisting with nature rather than hiding from it. I have long seen my emotions as being similar to weather patterns. If I acknowledge the negative emotions that come up and let them pass through, it can be liberating. It’s when I try to clamp down on anger or hurt or sorrow that I start to feel trapped. Eventually I end up clamping down so far that I get a case of mental constipation, the shit has no way of coming out.
That doesn’t mean I have to lash out at anyone or punch walls, it just means that I have to acknowledge my anger or frustration. I witness it, witness how it manifests and then go on to other things. With practice, it becomes easier. Since I have started doing this, my stomach hurts less and I get way less stress and sinus headaches. I feel more clear-headed and can better handle whatever has caused the stress in the first place. Of course having my art as an outlet doesn’t hurt either.

Casting Shadows

“Maybe the only thing each of us can see is our own shadow.

Carl Jung called this his shadow work. He said we never see others. Instead we see only aspects of ourselves that fall over them. Shadows. Projections. Our associations.

The same way old painters would sit in a tiny dark room and trace the image of what stood outside a tiny window, in the bright sunlight.

The camera obscura.

Not the exact image, but everything reversed or upside down.”
― Chuck Palahniuk

To see ourselves as others see us? How about to see ourselves as we are and to see others as they truly are with the shadows stripped away? What would it be like to be so clear in ourselves that we can look at another in full joy and awareness of them rather than as the distorted reflection of things we need to work out in ourselves? That self-clarity is what I work towards every day and what I try to invoke in myself for what is ritual for but developing self-knowledge of each aspect of our existence so that we can work it out without having to use another person as a guinea pig? My big push in this next year will be to gain as much of that clarity as I can both with myself and others and to cast the most minimal shade possible.

Acceptance… A consciousness Stream

“The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.”
— Carl Jung

Accepting the facets that show and the ones that haven’t.
Accepting sanity and insanity and knowing that the distinction is perception
Accepting the shadow and the light and the interplay between the two
Accepting the aging physical, the loss or change of aesthetic
Accepting the thoughts and emotions that i call the dark when despair washes over and greyness covers everything.
Accepting all gods and demons and realizing there is another matter of perception
Accepting the family teaching and the cultural conditioning and the mad beast that rattles against the cage and the sheep that doesn’t
Accepting the all and the nothing
Accepting that all of this and so much more is myself…

Curb the Dogs of Reason

“Philemon: “That is the third point that you must note as essential:
namely; that there is nothing for you to understand.”
Jung: “Well, I must confess that that is new and strange. So
nothing at all about magic can be understood?”

Philemon: “Exactly. Magic happens to be precisely everything that
eludes comprehension.”

Jung: “But then how the devil is one to teach and learn magic?”

Philemon: “Magic is neither to be taught nor learned. It’s foolish that you want to learn magic.”

Jung: “But then magic is nothing but deception.”

Philemon: “Watch out-you have started reasoning again.”

Jung: “It’s difficult to exist without reason.”

Philemon: ”And that is exactly how difficult magic is.”

Jung: “Well, in that case it’s hard work. I conclude that it is an
inescapable condition for the adept that he completely unlearns
his reason.”

Philemon: “I’m afraid that is what it amounts to.”

Jung: “Ye Gods, this is serious.””
— Carl Jung- The Red Book/Liber Novus

When doing anything for the first time, it is necessary to get past the idea that it cannot be done. If we start thinking about all of the reasons we have not successfully done it in the past then we are lost in a trap. We need to go forth in whatever we are attempting with full confidence that it is possible even if that confidence defies reason. This is true whether we are performing an act of ceremonial magick, going for our driver’s license or putting together Ikea furniture. If we think of magick as accomplishing something through use of will then anything that challenges our will works against us. Thoughts of failure no matter how logical will make what we wish to accomplish all but impossible. Therefore, there are times that reason like an unruly dog must be set outside in order to get anything done.
