At the Crossroads

…I see myself at crossroads in my life, mapless, lacking bits of knowledge – then, the Moon breaks through, lights up the path before me…”
― John Geddes

There is that in me that loves a crossroads. I salute Hecate, Papa Legba and Thoth and I enjoy the moment of possibilities when all roads that can be seen are equally possible. True, there is a decision called for each time we arrive yet there is always that moment to savour when all seem equally possible or impossible and all cry out “Choose me”. Yet when I look for quotes to share about the crossroads’ wonders, it seems that many see them as negative as if a decision was a frightening thing to make and choosing to not decide might make cowards of us all.
I will hang out at the crossroads at Twilight or Midnight and invoke my gods and goddesses. I will choose so that I may find the crossroads again and be open to new possibilities.

Quotes of the Day – September 4 2012

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

To jump or not to jump, is that the question? Do we stand on the edge on our tiptoes to get the fullest safe view we can or do we leap trusting that we can develop wings on the way down with little to no problem. Trust seems difficult when it is so easy to hedge my bets here on the edge. People brag about being on the edge, being edgy, pushing the envelope yet in a way they’re the ones without the courage to make the leap.  Perhaps they’re the smart ones…going as close as they can, they inhabit the crossroads of potentiality where any direction including  off is possible. So centre, edge or jump? Which resonates most for you?
