Healing Emotional Storm

“Whenever you feel a negative emotion be alone in a room and just sit down with it and feel. Don’t judge it, criticize it, intellectualize it, explain it away. Allow yourself to feel the pain. It’s okay.”
— Bo Sanchez

I feel hurt, angry, tired, sick at what I see. I won’t deny my anger anymore. I don’t need to act it out especially not at those who didn’t cause it in the first place but I acknowledge it. To deny my feelings or contain them is the cruelest form of self-betrayal.
I cry with sorrow and cry with rage and let myself run the gamete of emotions from A to Z. The feelings will crash over me of hurt and loss until they have run their course.
It is an emotional storm yet it is also a healing one. When it has run through and the skies clear again, I will be as well.
Blessings, G

The Tear

“I did not know how to reach him, how to catch up with him… The land of tears is so mysterious.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

You watched in silence
your old home torn apart
not one word spoken
I didn’t know what to say
and you
you showed nothing
one tear washed down your cheek
and it was over
I would have saved that tear
like a precious gem
or kissed it away
The tears we shed in silence
the blood of emotion escapes
and it is gone
leaving only echoes
somewhere in our soul
Tho you cried
somehow it was shared
tho I couldn’t touch you
and the release
like the memory
is gone.

Quote of the Day – March 23 2012

“You can always abandon a page, but if it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the stage. And that’s the truth. It takes work and discipline, but it also takes an incredible power of forgiveness and a desire to serve the music completely without any sort of cosmetic desire. Stripped and bleeding…baring your soul, so that someone else might feel exalted and able. You must learn to give if you want to pursue the arts.”
– Van Dyke Parks (American composer)

“Stripped and bleeding-baring my soul.”, “Go deeper.” Yes I will so I am learning. If its not real, if its only the truth of my experience of the events that happened and not my heart’s truth than it is only a half-truth and it will lie flat. What really matters is what made my heart sing and what made it cry and what made it grow. If I can give others my experience, than they can learn from it as well. If I settle for just recounting facts, it loses all real meaning.

Perhaps in my art, I have reached this point of honest communication with five or six of my pictures, in my writing even less. I feel it’s getting better tho. I have heard that many of us have our emotions hidden away; frozen over for the sake of survival. Yes we can survive without real emotion but we will never thrive. It is only by fully becoming aware of what we feel that we can transcend them. Still it’s taken a lot of pain to make us lock our emotions away. Facing that takes courage But never more than what each of us possess

Spring Equinox Mandala

Quote of the Day – September 28 2011

“To hold our tongues when everyone is gossiping, to smile without hostility at people and institutions, to compensate for the shortage of love in the world with more love in small, private matters; to be more faithful in our work, to show greater patience, to forgo the cheap revenge obtainable from mockery and criticism: all these are things we can do. ”
― Hermann Hesse

If I need to be eaten by emotion may it be by Love and Joy rather than anger, bitterness or fear. Now I gain insight into why i find it better to let emotions flow through rather than provide resistance. In the very word, when there is resistance, something cannot move.. I want all emotions to move. When they don’t, the body reacts in a way that shows dis-ease, particularly emotions like anger and fear..–GAR
