Family Business

“If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.”
― George Bernard Shaw

The family gathers
and the shadow play begins.
Odd feints detectable only to those
old hands in the game.
Each move choreographed in steady rhythm.
Each practiced tone pronounced.
More of the heart revealed with every thrust
of witty rapier.
So much love looking to expand the old worn currents
so many shaded ways to show it
yet the message is always delivered
and the understanding grows

Mirror Me Whole

<h3“You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.”
― George Bernard Shaw

Looking in the mirror
making changes in my soul
tired of feeling like half a man
gonna recreate me whole

Make mistakes along the way
cause that’s just how I roll
seeking out my true will
make a diamond from this coal

giving my confession
clearing up my stuff
telling the truth about
the times i acted rough

seeking resolution
isn’t all that tough
Learning not to demand
more than is enough

shaping up my practice
finding a new way
of being with the infinite
living for today

Quote of the Day – September 3 2012

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
–George Bernard Shaw

And so I create myself.. and I feel most days like the Esher drawing of a hand coming out of the drawing  to draw a hand coming out of the drawing to draw it. I create the person who will create my tomorrow who in many ways creates me. For as we grow, we look on and know our past with more insight. Who will this creation become? Will people like it? It doesn’t really matter, it won’t be for sale.

I choose what goes into the mix. The books, websites, art that I look at and music I listen to will all influence the shape of the me that I create. Will  I feed it from controlled media sources that want to take away our power to think for ourselves or will I choose ideas that open up and flower. Will I eat healthy so that the me I create will have energy or will I run it down. So many choices and in each one some creativity comes in. I want to look on the me I create as a masterpiece as hopefully it will look on me.
