Creating Absurdity

“Envision possibility. Don’t worry who else believes in it; the universe is only looking for instructions from you.”
— Marianne Williamson

Creating the world I live in
breaking the chains I’m given
freeing myself for living

I have to admit tho I keep getting pulled in by all the political bread and circuses. It may be easier this year since they’ve added so many clowns. Take the latest news from the south for instance. Supreme Court Justice Scalia died of a hard attack yesterday. He was 79 and not particularly in the best of health so it probably did not feel totally unexpected. Yet immediately the radical right jumped in with conspiracy theories about how he was murdered (by Obama in at least one reported theory no less). Putting aside the absurdity of this claim for a second one has to ask the next logical question. If he was going to be murdered, why would it be now. The timing is already causing a shit storm due to the fact that President Obama is in his last year in office and the republicans don’t want him to do his appointed job. If it was that easy to assassinate Scalia would it not have been wiser to do it a year ago before several of the most controversial and closest decisions to come down the pike in a while? One has to wonder.

Shaping My Life

“I must shape my life out of myself, out of what my own inner being tells me or what nature brings to me.”
– Carl Jung

My land is what my eyes see
Not ownership but kinship
with all that surrounds me.
I move through the world
and so my life is formed.

My thoughts create my kingdom
with constant new areas to explore
and new insights to explain
I fly through imagination
and so my spirit grows

My understanding creates reality
I reach out to invent myself anew
and find myself reborn.
I choose that which will benefit
and so my world expands.

Self-Creation — A Consciousness Stream

“But, if you have nothing at all to create, then perhaps you create yourself.”
― C.G. Jung

Of What do I create myself? Out of the sunrise I see in the morning, pink clouds and fiery majesty? out of the smiles of little children? out of the complaints online and off of how the government, entertainment industry, world, lives of people do not suit them and why (rarely how) they need to be different? Out of the satisfaction of my elderly neighbour as she manages to reaffirm to herself that she can still do little chores in the garden? out of teenage frustration? out of joy in the company of my loved ones? out of the walk in the grass running with my dogs? out of cyberspace whisperings and ceremonial art? of bad puns and old song lyrics and wordplay? out of the mountains overlooking the shore? out of the influence of deities? Of my lover’s embrace as we sleep at night and the back rub that feels so good? Out of the night skies?
Each day I create myself anew out of all of this and so much more and feel both full and replenished.

Quote of the Day – September 3 2012

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
–George Bernard Shaw

And so I create myself.. and I feel most days like the Esher drawing of a hand coming out of the drawing  to draw a hand coming out of the drawing to draw it. I create the person who will create my tomorrow who in many ways creates me. For as we grow, we look on and know our past with more insight. Who will this creation become? Will people like it? It doesn’t really matter, it won’t be for sale.

I choose what goes into the mix. The books, websites, art that I look at and music I listen to will all influence the shape of the me that I create. Will  I feed it from controlled media sources that want to take away our power to think for ourselves or will I choose ideas that open up and flower. Will I eat healthy so that the me I create will have energy or will I run it down. So many choices and in each one some creativity comes in. I want to look on the me I create as a masterpiece as hopefully it will look on me.

Quote of the Day – September 5 2011

“Be Silent now.
Say fewer and fewer praise poems.
Let yourself become living poetry.”
–Rumi, Soul Houses

Poetry moving with fluid rhythm
summing up one image or one mood perfectly
what is the theme of one’s life?
would each year be stanza, verse or new thought entirely
as one’s being creates itself anew…
