Shadows on the Dream Road (June 2017)

One of the things that has been noticed about my art almost since I began is my use of colour. Typically, I have used bright and varied hues and one of my favourite things is to use pictures of various gems, particularly opals and agates for their deep colours and textures. This past year tho, I have learned how to tone it down a bit and give a more subtle approach including playing around with monochrome. It seems that even when dealing with hues, there are times when less is more

Traveling Quiet Roads (May 2017)

I was wandering through social media today and was amazed at how many helpful people I saw. It seems like everyone wants to give their opinions on everyone else and how they’re getting it wrong. I would rather stay in my own lane and work on myself. That doesn’t mean I won’t pull over to help someone in need. Whenever I have the time I am more than willing to help someone get to their destination. I draw the line at insisting that everyone has to follow my route or go where I’m going. I tend to like the quiet road myself.

Symbolic Aprehension (May 2017)

What are your symbols? What do they mean to you? What is your system for accessing them?
Do you choose divination, ritual, magick, evocation, invocation or do you follow a safer more conventional route such as prayer in a church, temple or mosque? I feel there that if you know the answers to these questions for any given person and more importantly your own answers than you have come a long way towards understanding the person.

Summonings and Evocations (April 2017)

Do the beings we evoke have existence outside of ourselves or are they representations of the deepest aspects of our being? I believe that the answer is both. The connections that we make internally become gateways to the external entities on which we call. The more connected we become internally, the deeper our connection to the archetypal externals become. In other words, the only way out is in

Eventful Meetings (April 2017)

In the soft places we meet not only our truest selves but those beings who are drawn to us. Whether they come to observe or communicate deep truths, we draw them with our words, our action and our being. They come from within and without. They may drive us mad or to a higher sanity than we have ever known

To dance with the goddess in the pale moonlight. To surrender your being to becoming. To be willing to open doors that unmask one’s true self and takes you down roads never seen.

Shattered Visions (March 2017)

I keep coming back to Tarot images. They were the first system of archetypes that I worked with in any real way. They were the motivation for and my start with this artistic path. Since then I have played in many fields but still those archetypes have a strong hold…

Deepening Shadows (March 2017)

The Shadows deepen. Something stirs in the depths underneath and we find ourselves responding on a primal level. A knowing arises that more exists outside our present paradigm? Do we avoid these depths out of fear or do we seek a deeper gnosis. I know what my choice will always be…

Masques and Legacies (Happy 2018) (February 2017)

Another year falling by the wayside. Still it was a productive year all in all. My art got published in three different books with at least two more on the horizon. I have expanded in both knowledge and practice. The Goetia Gateway deck is now in its final form and will soon be published. My son graduated High School and my partner earned a doctorate. What more could you ask for?
2018 has arrived like a blank sheet of paper or a blank screen just waiting to be written in and drawn on. This entry is but my first mark. I intend this year to be a powerful one. My writing, my art and my practice will all continue to rise and my gnosis will grow. I will share love and loyalty and friendship and remove all obstacles that rise before me. I will have an amazing time doing it as well. May this be true of all of you as well.
May you all be well, be strong and become.

Seeing the Challenge (February 2017)

Let’s throw in some quotes on occasion:

“The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge while an ordinary man takes everything as a blessing or a curse.”
― Carlos Castaneda

I’ve talked about this before. So many people of late cast themselves in the narrative as being a victim either of life itself or of others. The others may be ex-husbands, children, employers, white people, males, black people, Muslims, the system, the media, the internet. Books have been written by people justifying their own victimhood. Even more importantly people use their victimization as an excuse for not succeeding.

Whoever spread the rumour that anything in this life comes easily? Oh, I would not make the spurious claim that the game is not rigged and that somethings aren’t inherently easier for some than for others. I have yet to see a case where anything comes without a struggle. I have known no one who has not had challenges. Are some greater than others? Would anyone other than a fool reply in the negative to that?

In the long run though whether or not we overcome these challenges remains up to us. Either we can make it through and achieve our goals or we cannot. If we fail than it is up to us to either get up and try again or move on to another challenge. Am I saying this from a position of privilege? I would say yes to this. In the intersectionality Olympics the cards stacked against me are relatively few. While that may make my life easier, there remains a huge gap between easier and easy.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter why I succeeded or failed, what matters to me is how I faced each challenge that came to me and my willingness to face more tomorrow. When it comes to our own evolution and growth, the contest seldom has to do with others but with ourselves. How did I face the challenges set before me? Did I do my best to overcome them? What did I learn from my success or failure? How can I use that to move on to the next challenge?
There is a huge difference between blaming others for our failure or seeing them as another obstacle or challenge to be overcome. Some obstacles in our path cannot be removed. When that happens we either have to learn to go around them , bypass them in some way, reduce them or perhaps choose a path in which we can find more success.

OK time to put my soapbox away as I seem to have indulged in another rant.

Be Well, Be Strong, Be True, Become.
