Quote of the Day – December 3 2012

“All people dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind, wake in the
morning to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous
people, For they dream their dreams with open eyes, And make them come
true.”
― D.H. Lawrence

How many dreams of ours, either waking or sleeping are just there to clear the mind of a passing fancy?  How many are way pointers, sign posts that we are being called to be something better than we’ve been, to become something greater?  How many are silly or silly on the face of things until we look at them and then discover there is greater meaning than we ever realized ? How many of those dreams tell of things we wish we could do or things that seem like really brilliant ways of helping the world if only we could hold on to the details? What will it take to make one of your wishes come true?

Blessings, G

Top Still Spinning After the Gold RushTop Still Spinning After the Gold Rush by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – October 26 2012

“From now on I hope always to stay alert, to educate myself as best I can. But lacking this, in Future I will relaxedly turn back to my secret mind to see what it has observed when I thought I was sitting this one out. We never sit anything out.

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out. ”
― Ray Bradbury

How many times I’ve played my life as if it was a hand of solitaire, I dealt the cards out knowing full well how they would come out and then played it just as I knew it was. I believe most of us do this in relationships that we get into because we need the lesson which I suppose accounts for almost every relationship in which we find ourselves. It’s almost a cliche to say that the end is written in the beginning yet there it is…the alchemy that draws us into each other’s orbit decides how we will mix, partake of each other’s qualities and then either blend or separate.
As I’ve said before, we exist in relationship not only with people but with things, situations and events as well and like those, we know if we are being true to ourselves that most are transitory and the way we leave may be found in its beginning. Not that I believe its all predestined. Many choose to stay in relationships or in situations well past their sell by date. This may be because of happiness but more often it is done by our sheer stubbornness to make things work. This can lead to ongoing frustration or sometimes astonishing wonderful breakthroughs both for ourselves and the ones we journey with. After all are we not constantly changing? If that is so, if I am a different person than the one who entered the relationship, is the end still inevitable? Perhaps this is the change that involves letting the ‘beautiful stuff’ out.

Staring at the Ceiling by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – October 13 2012

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.”
― Robert Fulghum

Knowledge can give us facts but it takes imagination to bring understanding . History is biased and ever changing but myth enters our subconscious and builds new countries there . Hope, that odd combination of imagination and myth can truly trump experience because it shows us that no matter what has happened so far, something better may be right around the corner. But then I’ve always been a hope fiend and I may flatter myself by believing that I’m a dreamer. We build better worlds than this one and learn to inhabit them.

Tarot Trump XIV – Temperance

Abstract Vision by G A Rosenberg

Dream Images Waking Redux

Infinite snow globe
angel frozen in ice
A mad tea parting with friends
Images flowing through but not remaining
Dream symbols that travel in waking mind
We grasp at meanings but lose the point

They go flying by on bat’s wings
lost loves as mermaids
or flashing eyes or flowers crushed by indifferent feet
Star beings lighting up our skies
awakening our dreaming minds.

Those bits and visions of
‘outside’ reality
pieces to place in our jigsaw beings…
Brought to us to pave our path
bringing us home.

Out of Their Element by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day -August 18 2012

“Tell your heart that your fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And hat no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity ”
–Paulo Coelho

The strange loops that webcam find ourselves caught up in fascinate me.We go out of our way to avoid discomfort and suffering and in doing so we suffer more than we ever could have thought. What is it that we fear so much?
When we dream our lives big, any setback we have will appear smaller by comparison. It is only when we fear failure and shrink our dreams that our perceived setbacks grow in size.
May we all become fearless dreamers!

Intricate by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – January 25 2012

“All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.”

–Jack Kerouac

Tonight I thought I’d find a Jack Kerouac quote and talk about my years hitchhiking around and some of my road adventures. I still may do that some time soon tho instead of a road quote I pulled up a quote about dreaming and what we all have in common.
We all float along the dream stream, sometimes…
Letting go, seeing things clearer and more distant
or nearer and fuzzier,
In our dreams we clear our beings, I suppose in a way one of the functions of the dream world is to be the excretory system of what enters our psyche or perhaps to be more fair (and less gross) the digestive system , we process memes through dreams, lucidly or otherwise, keep what we we can use (sometimes to our detriment) and let the rest pass through whatever symbolic forms they may find…
Yet that would be just one function of dreams, our dreams may also serve as templates or heralds or influencers on what may be coming around the bend. When we become lucid in dreams, we may find ourselves able to influence our future selves in the larger dream we think of as waking life. Namaste, G

Quote of the Day – January 5 2012

“All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.”
–Jack Kerouac

The things that tie mankind together. Tonight for various reasons, I contemplate the spectrum of human emotions, the ecstasy of new love, the excitement of spiritual awakening (or is that reversed), the darkness of despair, feeling unloved or that life will always taste like like ashes mixed in with orange juice, the pain of loss, the joy of feeling found and the bliss of being when everything flows. I love the rainbow of emotion even the more difficult colours. I love how feeling them, I can relate to all others feeling the same or who have. I take pride in my humanity and in somehow reaching and understanding that of others. Namaste, G

Quote of the Day – December 17 2011

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Under the circumstances, on the eve of a showing of my art, this quote seems just about right. Not that an art show in and of itself was a large D dream for me. The fact that more people will be viewing my expressions of self and may even like them enough to purchase feels gratifying in an ego way I suppose and appreciation of one’s efforts always feels good so let’s say that this realizes a dream that created itself out of my own creativity..
It was an amazing feeling tho standing in the middle of a room, surrounded on all sides by creations that had only previously existed in cyberspace. I felt grounded and lightheaded at the same time…

Art Show Wall

Becoming in Space by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – December 15 2011

“The dust of many crumbled cities settles over us like a forgetful doze, but we are older than those cities. We began as a mineral. We emerged into plant life and into the animal state, and then into being human, and always we have forgotten our former states, except in early spring when we slightly recall being green again. That’s how a young person turns toward a teacher. That’s how a baby leans toward the breast, without knowing the secret of its desire, yet turning instinctively. Humankind is being led along an evolving course, through this migration of intelligences, and though we seem to be sleeping, there is an inner wakefulness that directs the dream, and that will eventually startle us back to the truth of who we are.”
–Rumi

Good night to think about dreams.. In my mind, so connected to visions and desires. Can I dream without wanting? I differ from myself of a year or so ago in that I now believe the answer to be more likely yes..I dream the future, I dream things looking different than I see them look. Do I dream art into being? How about myself? How about all that I see with me? Doesn’t it all begin with a dream and then shaped by further dreams..I’ve heard people who believe reality to be what they dream described as fanciful. To me, they tend to be more honest, we all colour the world with our perceptions. Our perceptions determine our speech and actions which influences how others react, a chain of dominos knocked over by a perception, a whim or perhaps a dream.
