Quote of the Day – February 1 2013

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

When’s the last new thing you’ve tried? When’s the last time you left your comfort zone and jumped for something new? When is the last time you dropped your identity and adopted a new one? What stopped you? This life amidst all the pain and all the junk can be one big playground and even the bad parts are better than no parts at all. We are a reflection of the all, the drop in the ocean that carries the ocean within it. It’s not a matter of courage, just a matter of actualizing. Go for it.

Quote of the Day – January 12 2013

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

I pretend to understand. To do this well, I have to listen with involvement to what those around me say. I have to ask the next question and show my involvement. I have to actually put myself into another’s shoes, psyche so that I am not caught up in not understanding. I need to be open to their dreams and their pain and their joy and to see the world from their viewpoint. I have found it impossible once I do those things to not care. In pretending to understand and be understanding, I get caught and perhaps at least a little bit, I do.

Quote of the Day – December 17 2012

“Nothing is generous. New knowledge is a valuable commodity. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we are.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

Perhaps its such a valuable commodity because its a seller’s market? So many people avoid knowledge like the plague and to them you can’t give it away. There are those of us tho hungry for new knowledge and it is on us that knowledge brokers survive. Even there, some of us are more like gourmets in nature, only accepting the good stuff, knowledge that’s proven to harmonize with universal principles and erudite material that one must have the equivalent of three university degrees to understand. Others of us are gourmands and will consider any flight of fancy and love pushing ourselves if not outside the box into whatever boxes possible. When it comes to knowledge I am one of the universal dumpster divers willing to leap in and look over whatever anyone is throwing out. Thus breadth is added but also an amazing depth when all the sources end up weighed and sorted through.

He Starts His Eduacation

He Begins His Education by G A Rosenberg

Quotes of the Day – September 4 2012

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

To jump or not to jump, is that the question? Do we stand on the edge on our tiptoes to get the fullest safe view we can or do we leap trusting that we can develop wings on the way down with little to no problem. Trust seems difficult when it is so easy to hedge my bets here on the edge. People brag about being on the edge, being edgy, pushing the envelope yet in a way they’re the ones without the courage to make the leap.  Perhaps they’re the smart ones…going as close as they can, they inhabit the crossroads of potentiality where any direction including  off is possible. So centre, edge or jump? Which resonates most for you?

Reaching For More Time by G A Rosenberg

Existing in a Bubble World by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – May 29 2012

“Many people need desperately to receive this message: ‘I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.'”
–Kurt Vonnegut

Reaching out
with words with feelings as long as it is with heart
If the intention is to understand
than the reception becomes unimportant or at least secondary

I reach out to you
and listen as your being speaks to mine
I need to hear your song,
the one unique to you
