Quote of the Day – August 28 2012

“You – you alone will have the stars as no one else has them…In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night…You – only you – will have stars that can laugh.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, El Principito

I consider myself fortunate to have stars that laugh, cry and love…each one lit by people who have touched my being at one time or another. Aleister Crowley channeled that “Every man and woman is a star” and so I believe that they are.. Stellar beings who light up our sky and who’s orbit we are fortunate enough to be able to find ourselves in for moments or lifetimes…

The above may sound corny to some. But still it seems in our day to day existence it becomes so easy to look down on people, suspect their motives and otherwise belittle them if only in our own minds…but if we can see them and ourselves as stars burning brightly through the heavens then even the ones who irritate us, the ones who piss us off continuously become something magnificent

It might not make it easier to like them or what they represent but it lends perspective.

Blessings, G

Last Dance by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – April 18 2012

“Inevitably anyone with an independent mind must become ‘one who resists or opposes authority or established conventions’: a rebel. If enough people come to agree with, and follow, the Rebel, we now have a Devil. Until, of course, still more people agree. And then, finally, we have — Greatness.”
― Aleister Crowley

I’ve always questioned. It’s in my nature. Friends and relatives use to laugh at me jumping between beliefs and systems. Really I wanted to experience each one. Part of it was a desire to understand both myself and the universe better. What I call now pursuit of the elephant and what others call Integral Thinking. One of the things I’ve come to realize tho is that whenever I reach a point where I feel sure I have found the answer or even an answer, that’s the time to question the most. Even if I continue with more questions than answers they make the journey a lot more interesting.

Cry Me a River by G A Rosenberg

Containing Worlds by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – December 13 2011

““The joy of life consists in the exercise of one’s energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal.”
–Aleister Crowley

or what’s a heaven for? Tho i believe that when he said ideal Ol’ Aleister did not mean goals. A goal, to me would be more the setting of one’s intent or a use of will to make something happen. An ideal, perfecting one’s spirit or the spirit of humanity, that would be a far different story.
So I have been (albeit at probably way too languid a pace) preparing for the first showing of my art Saturday, an attainable goal, tho not one I had ever set as much as fell into it. The idea of selling my art I find interesting and perhaps the next step in this artistic path that I seem to be on. I’ll report on how it works out 🙂
Namaste, G

Oh yeah, a bit of a note on the lower of the two pieces tonight. Once more I have been experimenting a bit with technique and style…therefore a sketch as there is definitely something not quite ‘finished’ about it.

Colourplay ‘Sketch’ by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – November 9 2011

“The way to find out about happiness is to keep your mind on those moments when you feel most happy, when you are really happy — not excited, not just thrilled, but deeply happy. This requires a little bit of self-analysis. What is it that makes you happy? Stay with it, no matter what people tell you. This is what is called following your bliss.”
–Joseph Campbell

To me, what Campbell called ‘following your bliss’ sounds a lot like Crowley’s ‘true will’. Living to the purpose of one’s soul. Can prem mean much more than that? What can be more important than the true expression of one’s very being? Dr Campbell in this quote has given a large signpost to discovering what one’s true will may be. Namaste
