Questing Within

“What each must seek in his life never was on land or sea. It is something out of his own unique potentiality for experience, something that never has been and never could have been experienced by anyone else.”
-Joseph Campbell

Surrender to the search within
even as it takes you to places
you never thought existed
as facets reveal
untold treasures
and sometimes horrors
and then there are those sides
that partake of both
Never be afraid of
the shadowed aspects
for in those shadows
the light shines brightly
and it is the darkest flame
that illuminates most.

Within the Self’s Scars

““I want to work in revelations, not just spin silly tales for money. I want to fish as deep down as possible into my own subconscious in the belief that once that far down, everyone will understand because they are the same that far down.”
— Jack Kerouac

Within this self’s scars
dwells an elemental expression
leading you down
the signs are the usual
“Abandon all ….”
but what I really need to leave behind
is my bullshit
the fears that keep me above the surface
rather than pulling me down down
the only way out is in
individuate understanding
of an acausal pathway
empathic teargas floating on surface wings
pulling me up into a fear thought abandoned
tho my will keeps me heading down
down towards the centre
down towards apotheosis
away from being
into the void within

Paindrops

“Of course I’ll hurt you. Of course you’ll hurt me. Of course we will hurt each other. But this is the very condition of existence. To become spring, means accepting the risk of winter. To become presence, means accepting the risk of absence.”
— Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Hurt me a little
Rain on me paindrops
that won’t melt
under morning’s light
The tears streaming down
for I exposed my soft areas
open to your wit’s knife
and I say “again”
Make me bleed my weakness
Let me love my strength
through its absence
the teardrop of blood
slides softly down my face
leaving a trail
as another gathers in my eye
causing a scattered prism
A painbow in my eyes.

Chronos Steals

“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.”
— John Burroughs

The clock on second hand wings
soars away with me running after
in frustrated yearning
seeking that extra hour
for laughter with a friend
or tears with another
or a few more moments to read
or make love
or just fuck
Even a song would be nice
yet Chronos steals our moments
and we must make do with what’s left.
Still so much better than
not having a clue
of what to do.

Writing the Tale

“To some extent, mythology is only the most ancient history and biography. So far from being false or fabulous in the common sense, it contains only enduring and essential truth, the I and you, the here and there, the now and then, being omitted. Either time or rare wisdom writes it. Before printing was discovered, a century was equal to a thousand years. The poet is he who can write some pure mythology to-day without the aid of posterity.”
— Henry David Thoreau

Shifting through possibilities of being
learning to open and allow
my real self to emerge
Casting shadows everywhere
especially within
Losing fixed points
I dance to the song I hear
soon the wheel will stop
and the ball click into place
my present identity fixed
The author is revealed
for no one else will
write my story
and no one will be blamed
At any point I can write finis
leave the scene and start anew.

Broken in a Mosaic Cut-Up Kind Of Way

“Stop trying to ‘fix’ yourself; you’re NOT broken! You are perfectly imperfect and powerful beyond measure.”
― Steve Maraboli,

I stand, a broken man
well perhaps not broken
but composited
by wounds from the past
unexplained events that made no sense
abstract dreams with no grounds
painful conversations
and disjointed memories that could not resolve themselves.
Still I am complete in my being and becoming
Seek not to make sense
I’ve earned my confusion
my defusion and my delusion
There is no need to put me right
wrong or out of your sight
I am perfect in my shattered becoming
as you are in yours
I just allow the chaos to show
and the reality around me to bend.

Ephemeral Self

“Get up, walk across the room and come back. Where are your footprints? They’re gone. So where are you? Who are you? When we try explaining who we are we sort of give recitation of our history. Forget it. That’s not you. It’s some story that’s already gone. We don’t know ourselves except by listening to our echos and consulting our memories.”
— Alan Watts

I am of the moment
I exist apart from time
not who I was
nor who I’ll be.
An eternal flash in eternity
fully expressed and expressive
then fractally wiped away
by the future selves
Drops in a bucket that
form a tidal wave
sinking back into the void

It’s All Done With Internal Mirrors

“The difference between magick and therapy is that, for magick, truth lies in experience, whereas therapy is concerned with questions of “meaning” and “interpretation”. The therapist traces the meaning of symptoms back to the unconscious, over and over again. In other words, issues on the surface are exposed as being the product of issues hidden at a lower level. It is all “about” issues. Magick, on the other hand, enables us to experience issues directly as something else—as a “demon”, an “angel”; as something other.”
— Duncan Barford

Symbolic battles actualized
the gods battle outside
I side with demons
so I can understand their ways
and realize their nature’s illusion.
No sides exist but perspective
The energy is in the realization
I tear down my internal walls
and seek what lies beyond
as the universe spins me in place

Understanding in the Stars

“Human beings do not perceive things whole; we are not gods but wounded creatures, cracked lenses, capable only of fractured perceptions.”
— Salman Rushdie

Fractal truths unfolding before me
Each being contains unique universes.
We transmit knowledge imperfectly
in our own language
and struggle to connect
with galaxies that were never our own.
Yet somewhere some force
has brought us together
We know each other’s peaceful intent
Listen to my stars and reach out
Love is possible between universes
and perhaps even understanding

Realizing Potential

“To see the fruit in the seed, this is genius.”
— Lao Tzu

To see the coming becoming
is to glimpse the future’s dark
enlightening.
Can you see the apex view
from the mountain’s base?
Visionary impulse
with critical thought
Picking among possible futures
and willing the one you want
While wanting the one you will
Still every seed has its own will
so a slow sculpture ensues
Working to achieve the vision presented
while acknowledging the process
and owning it.
