Quote of the Day – January 23 2012

“You can’t cross the sea merely by staring at the water”
–Rabindranath Tagore

For too long I have stood here, looking out, knowing that one day i need venture forth one more time and journey not only in the inner way that I’ve grown so good at but externally as well. Each moment the adventure awaits yet which of us has the courage to take that first step? If we speak honestly we admit that each moment has been part of the journey and this latest step yet another in line yet why do some steps seem so much more difficult than others? Yet very often those are the ones most worth taking. Part of it is also acknowledging where and who we are without resistance. Only by doing this can we get to where we’re going. Namaste, G

Flying through Strange Landscapes by G A Rosenberg

Entering a New Dimension by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – January 14 2012

“A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.”

–Antoine de Saint-Exupery

In my life, I have experienced as many of those events as possible–meeting the stranger in ourself has to be one of the coolest feelings there is. To discover new potentialities in ourselves, new talents emerging is an amazing feeling like discovering a new colour and the range seems endless. We can be and are heroes not only as Bowie suggests for one day but for every day, heroes to the person we were before and students of the people whom we will become. Namaste, G

Space Pod Returning Home by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – January 2 2012

“When I had nothing to lose, I had everything. When I stopped being who I am, I found myself.”
–Paulo Coelho

How do I define myself? What makes me me? Each definition will be but another onion skin layer. I unreal each one slowly for each one while true remains true in the same way that the blind man’s elephant was very much like a tree trunk? Or was it like a fan? Or a snake? In other words, any definition or description I could give of myself would at most expose part of me leaving the rest undescribed or unexplained. Would I tell you a mythical most important part? Perhaps to my mind. In all probability I tell you the part I want you to see. I describe endlessly the parts of myself that I most want to identify with. Too bad they also tend to be the most illusory. Part of that house of cards, tower aspect I like to talk about. It is a part I use more to conceal than I do to reveal. But what if I could surrender that part, give it up. Ah, then something real may finally show through. Namaste, G

Eyes in the Buddha’s Electric Garden by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – November 24 2011

“Knowing’s easy; everyone does that ad nauseam. I just sort of hope.”

–The Doctor;  (Doctor Who-State of Decay)

Couldn’t let the 48th anniversary of Doctor Who go by without mention and since last night I used a JFK quote, then  I figured today would be the Doctor’s turn. Besides this quote describes something I feel quite often. So few things that I know for sure and most of those I only know to be true for me. Hope tho  I have in abundance. Hope that things can and will get better. Hope and weary faith in our species. Hope in more and more people choosing some form of path of awareness. What most people describe in a perforative sense as waking up. I believe I see that happening now.Miracles can and do happen every day.
Namaste,
GAR

Oh yeah a bit about the images for tonight. I started out playing out with gradients and pens and textures and ended up with the second image.I found it kind of cool and evocative but possibly needing something more. I played and played and ended up with the first one. Overall I feel happy with it (or at least satisfied) tho it may be a bit garish for my taste.

River’s Mouth by G A Rosenberg

Colour Flow by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – November 17 2011

Two Timothy Leary quotes tonight:

The universe is an intelligence test”

and

You’re only as young as the last time you changed your mind”

      –Timothy Leary

Given the picture I made tonight, Timothy Leary seemed a natural choice for the quote (s) to accompany it. Blowing your mind. Thinking outside the box. Going down the rabbit hole. Leaving your comfort zone. All beginnings of a quest that leaves you transformed. Very few people transform their lives doing the same thing day after day (assuming that thing is not spiritual practices such as yoga and meditation and even then as soon as it becomes routine perhaps it should be changed.  I have found that only that which challenges my every day life, which makes it impossible to follow routine can show me something new about myself. Only the thought that makes me uneasy enables me to think in new ways. Usually that is only true if I start looking to understand why it makes me uneasy. What am I resisting? Why is it dangerous? Why is it uncomfortable? The most primitive parts of our brain always tries to connect those two things, Discomfort and Dangerous. I want thoughts that discomfort. I want to learn new things, definitely about myself and always about others, how we relate and how everything relates to everything else.

Mind Blown by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – October 21 2011

“And if every way is closed before you. The secret one will show a path no other eyes have seen”
–Rumi

Mind is flying
performing tricks
leaping from subject to subject
without a net
beneath the witness
water flowing, observing, knowing
observing the wildness above
after all beyond time, beyond space
every game has run its course
and all happens happening happened
That cosmic perfect gem
only contained within space / time prison
does one find any urgency

Doorways in Strange Skies by G A Rosenberg

On Being a Guest in Someone else’s Youniverse

Who else lives in the same universe you do?

Really?

In anybody else’s universe we are a guest, and hopefully we can learn to conduct ourselves accordingly.

1) Only touch things with permission and put them back afterwards.

2) Never criticize and give honest feedback only when asked.

3) Don’t have expectations of what we will find in another’s universe of self. I try so hard not to play ‘accidental tourist’ and demand that the universe’s to which i am privileged to visit be just like mine.

4) Look for the beauty wherever we travel. I have never been to a place (or a person) that did not contain beauty.

5) Realize that no matter who I may be communicating and in what way, I carry my universe with its ‘laws’ with me. Perhaps the universe I am privileged to look at is compatible with my own. I can guarantee that in some ways it will be just as I can guarantee that in others it will differ. It seems silly to treat these differences with anything but a sense of wonder and imagination.

Quote of the Day – August 27 2011

“If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it’s not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That’s why it’s your path.”
— Joseph Campbell
