Self-Creation — A Consciousness Stream

“But, if you have nothing at all to create, then perhaps you create yourself.”
― C.G. Jung

Of What do I create myself? Out of the sunrise I see in the morning, pink clouds and fiery majesty? out of the smiles of little children? out of the complaints online and off of how the government, entertainment industry, world, lives of people do not suit them and why (rarely how) they need to be different? Out of the satisfaction of my elderly neighbour as she manages to reaffirm to herself that she can still do little chores in the garden? out of teenage frustration? out of joy in the company of my loved ones? out of the walk in the grass running with my dogs? out of cyberspace whisperings and ceremonial art? of bad puns and old song lyrics and wordplay? out of the mountains overlooking the shore? out of the influence of deities? Of my lover’s embrace as we sleep at night and the back rub that feels so good? Out of the night skies?
Each day I create myself anew out of all of this and so much more and feel both full and replenished.

Irrational- Thought stream.

“The irrationality of a thing is no argument against its existence rather a condition of it”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

The most beautiful things often make the least sense (thinking of flowers, children’s smiles, long tails on dogs, double rainbows, pi and pie and I could go on and know that some people could argue the sense and sensibility of the above yet I will sing loudly offkey beautifully that it does’t matter one wit. Rationality can only take you so far… It is a very useful servant but as a master it doesn’t even have a health plan. Is a thought of a unicorn a real thought and on what level do our symbols become real to us… All of these potential realities that we feed and water with our thoughts, hopes, prayers and nightmares, which will materialize? Which will we choose?

Drunk on Beauty

<h3“One should always be drunk. That's all that matters…But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you chose. But get drunk.”
― Charles Baudelaire

So drunk on tonight’s sunset that I can barely order my fingers on the keys. I’m intoxicated on beauty and old song lyrics and the feel of another on my skin. I stagger through the good feeling of doing the right thing. I may not be able to walk a straight line but my heart and compassion remain intact. So drunk without alcohol but on the lessons that the moon whispers and I the poet strain to hear.

Staying Out of My Own Way — A Thought Stream

“Your intuition knows what to write, so get out of the way.”
― Ray Bradbury

I know if I shut up the words will come yet inside the yammering continues…so the field goes fallow and the beauty..may be there but it will show like a harlot’s illusion. Instead if i open to the beauty and type who knows what inner meaning may be expressed. I may show you my pain in all its glory, that radiating star that both colours and poisons but slowly heals through exposure to the air. I may show you inspiration, the candle lit from above that bypasses pain and encompasses it showing how to use it. Perhaps I will show you relationship, how we connect ourselves to ourselves and then to others.. or perhaps just a simple rhyme, beautiful in its simplicity. The two are not exclusive.

Retreading Potpouri

A bit of a mixture of old and new tonight as I am determined to get back on track with the tarot book. Tomorrow: All-New Material.
Tonight — A bit of old and a bit of new…

“I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.”
― Hermann Hesse

Inate lemons into lemonade.. tires into tirades… we seek meaning and find it in the strangest ways in the strangest places..turn around and see it in some strangers’ faces. At times cut off we feel so empty…need a fill, need a thrill… all too often, we may want a pill, find a cure… want to be sure…what lies within..find a new spin… meditate, not medicate and find the how…the reason that brings value to how we ended up here in the first place…

“The Reality Of The Other Person Lies Not In What He Reveals To You, But What He Cannot Reveal To You.
Therefore, If You Would Understand Him, Listen Not To What He Says, But Rather To What He Does Not Say.”
–Kahlil Gibran

I find magic in being able to be comfortably with another person in silence. Far too often it seems, when we share an environment where conversation does not reign , we start making assumptions out of fear. “Why doesn’t he / she say something? Are they angry? Did I do something to offend them?” We try to fill up their silence with words of our own devising. The more comfortable I feel with myself, the more I can quiet the chatter of the model of the other I have created in my head and I can actually be open to both them and myself.

Other People’s Moments

We keep passing unseen through little moments of other people’s lives.
Robert Pirsig

Life’s hitch hiker that was me
Thumbing through the moments that make memories
Watching her come out
and her mother be just fine
reminding me of another time
but… never mind.
I watched them fight
father and son
The boy decided he needed to run
I remembered…No.
She left school to discover life
working minimum pay under taxes’ knife
shacking up and breaking up
occasionally making up
before beginning again
the cycles to… well again
I walk through their stories
and hear them whisper
the private public shared moments
relived in other peoples’ lives

Denying the Real… A Thought Stream

“Reality denied comes back to haunt.”
― Philip K. Dick

Hidden thoughts, hidden actions…the refusal to realize what is in front of us…we insist that 2 + 2 = 5, that we are better than we are, happier and more together and a string is pulled, and it all starts falling apart… that secret heart under the floorboards… the raven crying out nevermore… Poe understood reality denied … we all learn it in time… as we build up our house of cards… the way I feel when I am with him / her surely means they feel the same… its ok if I do it this once.. nobody saw me… its ok… but it never is , just our denial grows stronger as we add another brick…yet we can blast through these bricks… if we don’t the universe is kind enough to do it for us…tho it is a cruel kindness that leaves devastation in its wake..yet from the devastation we rise naked, vulnerable with denials and lies revealed…then we can choose how to clothe ourselves again…

Calm Water Answers… A Short Consciousness Stream

“Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.”
― William S. Burroughs

Patience to wait and to weigh possibilities except that chewing over things too much becomes so much mental mastication…internal work more stressful than external, obsession doesn’t solve but dissolves… a solution that ends in dissolution. I’ve noticed that through calm action, walking the dogs…playing a game, yoga, meditation… the answers comes faster and more often…I put out the question to the universe .. like a stone thrown into the water and eventually if I do not splash around too much the answer ripples back..

Infinity in a Water Drop

Beautiful to Watch Them Grow

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

A youth in rebellion runs
racing with the night
and my heart races as well
at the sheer beauty
and the courage to experience self
if only in the negation
of what he’s known before
I watch torn between
the wish to be the sail
that enables his ship to catch the wind
and the need at times to be the anchor
When my own ship sailed
and I went racing off
it is those anchor moments
I cursed and later treasured
and those sail moments
to know that they believed
that I accepted gracelessly at the time
but now help me be.
He runs now by day and night
in full impulsive glory
Even rudderless he’ll make it through
May he shine among the stars.
